Recipes

Once upon a time, I ate whatever my heart desired. As long as I didn't have to buy new clothes, I was happy. But in my early 20's, I was diagnosed with a metabolic syndrome, which required a life-style change in order to prevent chronic illness. I adopted a low glycemic diet, cutting out most bread, potatoes and rice dishes (I still ate pasta, but drastically reduced from several times a week to several times a month).

When I met my boyfriend, he would intermittently fast in order to alleviate his gastrointestinal distress. Eventually, we discovered the foods that caused the malaise, specifically lactose, legumes and even grains to an extent. The breakthrough occurred after trying our first Whole30. He had an amazing response after the first few weeks, where most of his symptoms had disappeared.

Between the two of our preferred eating styles, there are few meals we can enjoy together. Most fast food had been eliminated early, so we slowly amassed a collection of recipes that were both belly and budget friendly. Over time, I hope to share our successes with you.
